Our Story: The Inspiration Behind ScanMy.Band
ScanMy.Band was founded on a simple but powerful observation: when someone is in trouble, people instinctively want to help — but in critical moments, they often lack the one thing that makes help possible: information.
The moment of inspiration came from witnessing a distressed child separated from her parent in a busy shopping centre. A shop assistant stepped in immediately, but without access to emergency contact details, could do little more than wait and hope. Variations of this situation happen every day — involving lost children, people living with dementia or Alzheimer’s, individuals with autism or other disabilities, or anyone experiencing a medical emergency and unable to communicate essential information.
With extensive backgrounds in IT and software development, the founding team recognised this as a practical, solvable problem. ScanMy.Band was designed as a professional-grade medical ID wristband and emergency contact solution — a simple, durable safety wristband using NFC and QR code technology to provide instant access to critical medical information and emergency contacts.
